Follow These Steps to Get the Darkest Stain
After the application of henna, it usually takes around 30 minutes to an hour for the paste to dry, and longer in colder temperatures. For best results, it is recommended to keep the henna paste on for 6-8 hours to enhance the color and increase its longevity. During the first night, it's advisable to wear a breathable protective mitten or sock to safeguard the design and prevent any staining of clothes or sheets.
In the morning, you can remove the henna paste using your fingers, and olive oil can be used to assist in the process. The initial orange color will gradually deepen into a richer reddish-brown hue within 48 hours. It's important to avoid water contact for the first 24 hours after removing the paste as it may hinder the oxidization and darkening process of the henna.
If you want to wash off any residual paste during this period, it's recommended to use a small amount of lemon juice or olive oil instead of water. While showering or bathing, applying a small amount of vegetable or olive oil acts as a protective barrier between your skin and the water.
Henna stains differently on individuals depending on the level of keratin in their skin. The most keratin is present in the hands and feet, making them the ideal areas to achieve the darkest stains.
